Workshop Description:Join Canadian folk icon Valdy in this fun and entertaining two-day workshop, in which prospective songwriters will learn to write and edit original materials.
Individual writing will be done, as well as with partners. Edit presented materials, along with songs created during the workshop, to dissect, analyze and where appropriate, restructure and fine-tune them.
Song structure, dynamics and pertinent resources will also be introduced. A degree of curiosity is needed, as well as an ability to share thoughts, feelings and experiences with a group of like-minded individuals. There will be ample time and opportunity to include ideas and input from all present; all will be involved, individually and collectively.

Valdy
Valdy, born in Ottawa, has been part of the fabric of Canadian pop and folk music for over 34 years and is considered one of Canada's most influential songwriters. He's a singer, guitarist and songwriter who catches the small but telling moments that make up life.
Remembered for Play Me a Rock and Roll Song, Valdy has sold almost half a million copies of his 13 albums, has two Juno Awards and a total of seven Juno nominations and four Gold albums to his credit.
He has taken his music to a dozen different countries and been an often-invited performer at the prestigious Kerrville Festival in Texas. Today, he is based on Salt Spring Island and continues to perform and tour widely.
Valdy has been a facilitator at numerous songwriting camps and workshops.
