Course Description:The first portion of this workshop will focus on techniques: singing, spoken and soundscapes. These methods will help to free singers from any preconceived ideas we might have of “scatting” or vocal improvisation. We’ll play some vocal ‘games’, work with accompaniments and a variety of song forms to get everyone well acquainted with the materials to be explored in the second half of the clinic.
The second portion of the workshop will be playtime!
With the techniques we have learned, we’ll work with structured and unstructured songs and musical settings to free our imaginations and basically have some fun improvising together and individually.
Materials:
There are no materials required. The accompanying class CD will be provided by instructor.
