Workshop Fees:$150
Workshop #:WS0805-07
Course Times: 9:30 - 3:30
Course Description:During this weekend exploration in pastels, students will be encouraged to explore the relationship between drawing and painting. In developing a pastel painting, an artist draws with paint and color during each stage. Students will have the opportunity to understand how to start, develop and finish a painting. In each step, we will be concerned about the structural drawing in, and massing of planes, tones and colors. The broad approach to the specific will help to teach and produce correct value, shape, proportion and color and to learn to see and use expressive line and gesture.
Some materials will be provided by the instructor. Please contact us for more information.

John Mortenson
John Mortenson worked and studied across Canada, Europe and Greece exploring different media and art forms. His work has been strongly influenced by the Group of Seven, Charles Comfort, and the less obvious subjects often chosen by Hagan.
Amoung his credits, his work was included with five members of the Group of Seven in a book called Massanoga; The Art of Bon Echo, an Archives of Canadian Art Series publication.
