Vive la Video!

Workshop Dates:Sat/Sun October 4 - 5, 2008

Workshop Fees:$135

Workshop #:WS0810-16

Time: 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM

Video GroupYou don't need any special skills or equipment to engage in this hands-on video making workshop. Come with ideas and interest to take part in creating your own video. You will learn how to use a video camera and tripod to shoot footage that you will then edit on a computer into a short video to share. All equipment will be provided and you are also encouraged to bring along any of your own.

Friday night will be spent viewing short videos and coming up with ideas for your videos. On Saturday, the preproduction or planning will continue as you develop your storyboards and scripts. You will also be introduced to cameras, tripods and microphones as you learn about shot types and camera movements in the process of videotaping your story. Once you have completed the production phase and gathered all the images, sounds, and footage you need, postproduction starts.

Sunday will be devoted to becoming familiar with basic editing software (e.g., MovieMaker, iMovie) on the computer as you learn how to select, cut, and manipulate your materials into rough video format. As a group you will collaborate to provide feedback for each other's productions so that by Sunday afternoon, your short videos will be screened and celebrated! Vive la video!

What to bring:

If you have a video camera, tripod and laptop with editing software, or any other equipment that you've been using, please bring it along. Not necessary to have to take the workshop!

The Instructors will bring video equipment.
