Photograph by Dennis ForsythCourse Description:This course is aimed at photographers using digital cameras (either D-SLRs or point-and-shoots ).

While the course can accommodate folks with no digital camera experience at all, those with at least some understanding of camera basics (shutter speed and aperture) will have a head start.

We will concentrate mainly on composition and design: What makes a good image?  How does one apply basic art and design principles to photography?  How can you develop a critical eye?  How do you maximize your camera’s creative potential?

We will spend some time during each session critiquing participant work. There will be homework.

PLEASE BRING TO THE FIRST SESSION:

  • Your camera plus any lenses, filters or other accessories you use
  • Your camera's manual (if you have one)
  • Three or four of what you feel are good examples of your photography. These can be prints (the larger the better) or slides or photos burned onto a CD.; Be prepared to have these discussed by the group.

Location:Denman Island Arts Centre
